Methi Gota is a very popular snak in Gujrat. It is deep fried snack .
Main ingredients are fenugreek (methi) leaves and besan (bengal gram flour).
You can find it at many Farsan shops / lari. Many people eat it in snacks.
When it rains (Monsoon), people gets crazy to eat Methi pakoda at home and in streets food / stalls.
You can eat it with Green chilly (Hari Mirch) and Chatni.
Ingredients :
- 2 cups besan (bengal gram flour)
- 2 cups chopped fenugreek (methi) leaves
- 1 cup chopped coriander (dhania) (Optional)
- 2 to 3 piece Black peepers
- 2 chopped green chillies
- 1 tsp green garlic
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp sugar (Optional)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 1/2 tbsp oil
- salt to taste
- oil for deep frying
Recipe :
- Rinse and then chop the methi leaves (fenugreek leaves).
- Add all the ingredients including the 2 tsp oil.
- Add very little water and make a thick batter.
- Add the soda and oil and mix well.
- Heat oil for deep frying in a kadai or deep fryer.
- Drop a spoonful of batter in oil and deep fry the pakodas till they turn golden brown and crisp form all the sides.
- Repeat with the remaining batter to make more pakodas.
- Drain the methi pakoras on paper towels to remove excess oil.
Serve methi gota (pakoda) hot with any green chutney or tomato sauce or Green chilly (Hari Mirch).
